Institutional Mission
We are a Guatemalan organization recognized for its service ethic, committed
to comprehensive, redistributive, non-paternalistic, and sustainable
development in favor of children, youth, and poor families in our country.
Institutional Vision
We promote local development and the conscious and constructive leadership
of the people and organizations it serves. It makes alliances with sectors that
seek the transformation of Guatemala into a more just country and inclusive of
its large sectors of the poorest of the population.
Intervention Strategies:
∙CAFNIMA focuses on building the capacities of thepeople who
participate in their projects so that they have more options and freedoms
to choose the life they consider most valuable within their culture.
CAFNIMA flees from promoting paternalistic practices that undermine the
dignity of the impoverished.
∙Our NGO sees the projects as facilitators of strengthening the local organization that will be the protagonist in the transformation of unfair
social relations, which generate intergenerational poverty.
∙CAFNIMA has a gender approach and facilitates the promotion of
women through their organization, training, and leadership in the family economy.
∙It maintains an option to accompany the Mayan peoples of the country in
their effort to create an indigenous movement that represents them
before a historically exclusive State.
∙Its programs with young people are aimed at preventing the use of
violence as a way of life using sports, positive youth organization,
providing study options, job training, spaces for expression and youth recreation.
∙The projects want to promote participatory democracy through the
organized citizen participation of women, youth, Mayans, recyclers, and
leaders of marginal urban settlements.
